Old Fashioned Christmas at the Lighthouse

From 10:00AM to 4:00PM

Old Fashioned Christmas at the Lighthouse

December 1st - 7th, 2019

10:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.

Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum

15500 N Lighthouse Pt Road, PO Box 43, Northport, Michigan 49670

We will be celebrating the heritage of the Grand Traverse Lighthouse keepers from 1858-1880. Each room in the lighthouse will be Christmas themed, portraying the traditional time period and showcasing the keeper heritages. We will also be telling the story of our only female lighthouse keeper. There will be an actor in period costume in each room retelling the Christmas story of that family. Some of the heritages showcased will be from Germany, Denmark, England, and Ireland. In addition, learn about the history of the Christmas Tree ship Rouse Simmons, that sank in Lake Michigan in 1912.

December 7th will be our last day of the exhibit with extended hours. A modern-day Santa’s Workshop will be open from 3-6 PM. Come out and enjoy cookie decorating, crafting an ornament, visiting with Santa, games, holiday campfire, hot cocoa bar and much more.

As always, a Recreation Passport is required for entry into the State Park.
