JIM COSTA
Jim Costa is a Livonia native and a graduate of Central Michigan University with a degree in broadcast and cinematic arts. He spent more than four years in the Grand Rapids radio market before returning to metro Detroit to work for 97.1 The Ticket in 2021. He had previously interned at the station.

JON JANSEN
Jon Jansen is an 11 year NFL Veteran Offensive Tackle, University of Michigan Football Captain and National Champion. Throughout Jon's playing career he worked with the media in many different capacities, including writing articles for the Washington Times and Detroit Free Press and co-hosting the Monday Night Live show on Comcast.

Since his retirement he spent 3 years with the Big Ten Network, where he co-hosted studio shows, sideline reporting, and served as a color analyst from the booth. He is currently the color commentator for Michigan Football.

HEATHER PARK
Heather Park is a co-host on the 97.1 Detroit Sports Radio Network morning show. She joined the "Jamie and Stoney Show" in June 2017, brining a new female voice to the program. Following the retirement of Mike Stone and the passing of Jamie Samuelsen, the show has evolved, with her now co-hosting alongside Jim Costa and Jon Jansen.

Prior to her full-time radio career, she was the in-park host at Comerica Park for the Detroit Tigers, a role that gave her a deep connection to the local sports scene. She also worked for WWJ-TV, hosting "Detroit Sports News" and "Michigan Golf Weekly"

Karsh & Anderson

DOUG KARSH
Doug Karsh has been working radio since he was a student at Michigan State. Even though he originally planned to study engineering in East Lansing he changed his mind and eventually began working in radio. His first job was interning at AM 1050 in Ann Arbor.

Karsh was hired in 2000, when AM 1270 started as a sport talk radio station. In 2007, Karsh began working with Scott "Gator " Anderson and the Karsh & Anderson show was born. Karsh is the play-by-play announcer for University of Michigan Football.

Growing up in Ann Arbor, Karsh was a Detroit sports fan while also cheering for the San Diego Padres. He has worked on the radio doing play-by-play for Michigan State sports and for Wolverine Sports Magazine. In addition, he co-hosted ESPN's College Tailgate show.

SCOTT "GATOR" ANDERSON
Scott "Gator" Anderson teams up with Doug Karsh for the midday show on 97.1 Detroit Sports Radio Network. Called "Gator" by his peers, the nickname originated when he was in high school and a professional wrestling fan. As a tag team, he and a friend were ready to take on the professional wrestling circuit.

Gator grew up in West Bloomfield. He began his radio career in high school, and graduated from Michigan State University. As an upper classman, Gator worked as an intern for WJR and then joined WXYT full-time. He began his on-air work doing commercials and working pre-game and half-time shows for the Detroit Lions and Michigan State Spartans.

Mike Valenti with Rico

MIKE VALENTI
Opinionated, knowledgeable, and always self deprecating, Valenti is the fans voice. Love him or hate him, Mike Valenti is one of the most opinionated personalities at 97.1 Detroit Sports Radio Network. Since 1998, MIke has been immersed in radio and television, working for and producing a host of shows.

Originally from upstate New York Valenti began watching the Big Ten from a young age, and by the time he was in high school, he was a full-fledged Michigan State fan. He arrived in East Lansing to study journalism but also worked at the New York Giants training camp for two summers during his time as an undergrad. Valenti is a die-hard Spartan fan, as well as a New York Giants and Boston Celtics fan.

RICO BEARD
Rico is a Detroit native and former Host of "The Spartan Beat" in Lansing. He was also a co-host of "The Ryan and Rico Show" on Detroit Sports 105.1. Rico is an MSU alumnus and a Heisman Trophy voter. He has worked in the media for over two decades covering Michigan State, University of Michigan and all the Detroit pro teams.

He has worked in television in Detroit (Fox 2) and Lansing (Fox 47) and has covered nine Final Fours, three Stanley Cups, two NBA Finals, five college football bowl games and two World Series. Rico has also been a College Professor/Instructor.

The Covino and Rich show hosted by Steve Covino & Rich Davis, the Covino & Rich show debuted in 2004 on what was then Sirius’ Maxim Radio. Covering lifestyle, relationships, sports, comedy and music, the popular program aired on SiriusXM for 16 years. Covino & Rich also previously aired on ESPN and SNY, the NBC sports affiliate in New York City.
A defender of New Jersey, and a proud Yankees fan, Covino has a passion for rock music, bringing that to life every night as the host of SiriusXM Turbo 41. He also hosts weekend mornings on Ozzy’s Boneyard - SiriusXM channel 38. Covino previously worked at K-ROCK/WXRK-FM in New York.
A loyal Mets fan and softball enthusiast, Rich is one of the lead voices in pop music for SiriusXM, with hosting duties on their Pop2K channel, Hits 1 and The Pulse. His resume includes stints at iHeartMedia’s Z100/WHTZ in New York, Q102/WIOQ in Philadelphia and HOT 107.9/WWHT in Syracuse.

Rob Parker
Veteran journalist Rob Parker is co-host of FOX Sports Radio’s The Odd Couple with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington. Parker and Washington provide listeners with dynamic discussion and outspoken opinions as the duo covers the biggest stories and headlines in sports. Parker helped launch The Odd Couple in March 2018 as a weekend program, and in just six months, it was promoted to a weekday timeslot.

Parker’s career started with a bang. At 22 years old, he was a full-time sports writer at the Daily News in New York. Along the way, Parker was a trailblazer, becoming the first African American sports columnist at the Detroit Free Press (1993) and at Newsday in New York (1995). He was also an award-winning sports columnist at The Detroit News for nine years.

In Detroit, Parker had long-running radio show, Sports Night with Parker and The Man. On TV, he worked for WDIV Local 4 for 20 years as an analyst and fill-in anchor. At WXYZ TV, he was the 10pm sports anchor in 2016.

Parker, a New York native, graduated with a degree in journalism from Southern Connecticut State University and went on to receive a Master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University. In 2018, he was named National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Sports Journalist of the Year, and he was inducted into the NABJ Hall of Fame in 2023. Based in Los Angeles, Parker is also an adjunct professor at USC.

Kelvin Washington
An Emmy Award-winning Spectrum News 1 SoCal Host/Anchor, Washington has been with the network since its launch in 2018, covering local issues that impact Southern Californians. In August 2024, he took over as host of Your Morning on Spectrum News 1.

He is also a frequent contributor on Spectrum News 1's LA Times Today and is one of the hosts of the pre- and post-game shows for the Dodgers on SportsNet LA.

A Golden Mike award recipient in 2021, Washington has extensive experience hosting special documentaries and original programming, including The Envelope: Emmy Roundtables and Spectrum News 1's Emmy-nominated show, 50 Years of Hip Hop: From the Westside.

Over the course of his career, Washington has interviewed many sports personalities and athletes, including Clayton Kershaw, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Grant Hill.

Smith won an Emmy-award in production working on SportsCenter before making the transition behind the microphone.A native of Staten Island, New York, Smith is a graduate of Syracuse University where he earned a B.A. in English. He loves his wife, daughter and the New York Jets (and not necessarily in that order).

Ben Maller is host of FOX Sports Radio's Ben Maller Show. Launched nationally in January 2014, the overnight program broadcasts weekdays from 2 - 6 a.m. ET, live from the network's studios in Los Angeles, Calif. One of the original sports bloggers, Maller brings his token trademark sarcasm, informative insight and stimulating opinions to sports fans each evening.

Nicknamed "Big Ben," Maller joined FOX Sports Radio a month after the network's debut in 2000, and served as an update anchor and weekend talk show host for the network until the launch of his overnight show in 2014.

Prior to FOX Sports Radio, Maller worked at KXTA "XTRA Sports 1150" in Los Angeles, Calif., where he hosted the popular midday program Ben & Dave Show, in addition to anchoring the post-game "Dodger Talk" with former longtime voice of the Dodgers, Ross Porter.

Maller has served as an International Correspondent for New Zealand's Premier Sports Station, "Radio Sport," since 2009, and previously worked as a television sports pundit at NBC Sports Network in Stamford, Conn., in addition to guest-hosting a number of local sports radio shows in Boston, Mass., Denver, Colo. and Anaheim, Calif. He began his career as a radio reporter for "XTRA Sports 690," the 77,000-watt all-Sports blowtorch signal in San Diego, Calif. (XETRA).

Aside from his radio and television assignments, Maller enjoyed a successful career as a provocative sports blogger, launching sports news and gossip website BenMaller.com before writing nationally for FoxSports.com and Yahoo Sports (Postgame.com).

Outside of work, Maller has inspired many with his ongoing, successful battle against obesity, losing more than 200 pounds naturally by changing his diet and fitness routine.
